Harman's Cross is a small village on the Isle of Purbeck, in the county of Dorset in the south of England. It is situated on the A351 road between Swanage and Corfe Castle.
The village is located in the civil parish of Worth Matravers. The parish forms part of the Purbeck local government district and is within the South Dorset constituency of the House of Commons and the South West England constituency of the European Parliament.[1]
Harman's Cross is the location of Harman's Cross railway station, one of the intermediate stations on the Swanage Railway, a steam locomotive operated heritage railway. The railway links the tourist centres of Corfe Castle and Swanage with each other, and with a Park and Ride site at Norden station just to the north of Corfe Castle.[1]
The enterprising villagers have secured grant and local authority funding, including grants from the Big Lottery Fund, The Rural Development Programme for England, Dorset County Council, Purbeck District Council, Talbot Village Trust, Viridor Credits, the Garfield Weston Foundation, Worth Matravers Parish Council, and The Co-operative Community Fund to construct a new village hall which was opened in July 2010.
